Business Tradelines
A business credit file is a separate record from your personal credit file, built under your company's EIN rather than your Social Security number, and it is read by an entirely different set of reporting networks when a lender or vendor underwrites your business. Business tradelines are trade references that report into that file — the business equivalent of the accounts that build a personal credit report.
Credit Goliath places combo packages of aged business tradelines that report to SBFE and Equifax Business, sized to different stages of building a business credit profile from scratch through to underwriting for larger financing. As with every tradeline product we place, posting timing and how any individual lender weighs the file vary, and we do not promise a specific outcome, a funding approval or a score figure.
How business credit reporting is different from personal
Your personal credit file is tied to your Social Security number and reported by Equifax, Experian and TransUnion in their consumer capacities. A business credit file is tied to your EIN and, separately, to identifiers like a D-U-N-S number if you use Dun & Bradstreet, and it draws on different reporting infrastructure entirely.
Two networks matter most for the accounts we place. The Small Business Financial Exchange is a member-only data-sharing network that banks and other lenders contribute account performance data to and pull from when underwriting a business — it is not a consumer-facing bureau and most business owners have never seen their own SBFE data directly. Equifax Business is Equifax's separate commercial reporting product, distinct from the consumer file Equifax maintains on you personally.
Why an EIN-based profile matters for underwriting
Lenders and larger vendors evaluating a business application look for a credit file that exists independently of the owner's personal credit, because that separation is part of what tells them the business itself has a track record rather than relying entirely on a personal guarantee. A business with no SBFE or Equifax Business data effectively has no file for that underwriter to read, regardless of how strong the owner's personal credit is.
Building that file requires trade references reporting under the EIN — vendor accounts, credit lines, and other business-purpose tradelines that a furnisher chooses to report into SBFE, Equifax Business, or both. That is the gap our packages are built to fill.
Why vendor and revolving business lines both matter
Business credit files, like personal ones, are read partly on the range and depth of accounts reporting, not just a single line. A file with several trade references reporting consistently is generally viewed more favourably by an underwriter than one with a single account, because it demonstrates the business has an ongoing track record across more than one relationship.
This is why each of our packages places a combination of tradelines at once rather than a single line, and why we recommend pairing them with vendor net-30 accounts you establish separately, such as accounts with suppliers who report to Dun & Bradstreet or the business bureaus directly. The combination of financial tradelines from us and vendor trade references you build yourself produces a broader file than either alone.

What to expect once a package is placed
After intake, the tradelines in your chosen package are placed to report to SBFE and Equifax Business on their normal reporting cycles. Posting timing varies by furnisher and is not identical across every line in a combo package, which is why larger packages generally take longer overall to complete than a single-line placement. We keep you informed as each line reports rather than leaving you to check on your own.
Once lines begin reporting, registering for a free D-U-N-S number if you have not already, and keeping business and personal finances in genuinely separate accounts, both strengthen the overall profile that lenders and vendors are reading.
Where this fits with funding
A business credit file with established tradelines is one of the things underwriters look for when evaluating a business financing application, though it is one factor among several including revenue, time in business and personal guarantees where required. Once your business tradelines are reporting, our business funding service is the natural next step for clients seeking financing built on that file.
Frequently asked questions
What is SBFE and why does it matter?
The Small Business Financial Exchange is a member-only network that banks and other lenders contribute business account performance data to and pull from when underwriting a business applicant. It is not a public or consumer-facing bureau, but it is one of the primary sources many lenders check for an existing business credit history. A business with no SBFE data has effectively no file for those lenders to read.
How is Equifax Business different from my personal Equifax file?
Equifax Business is a commercial reporting product tied to your EIN and business identifiers, entirely separate from the personal consumer file Equifax maintains on you under your Social Security number. Activity on one does not appear on the other, which is why a business needs its own trade references reporting specifically into the business file.
Do I need an EIN before I can use business tradelines?
Yes. The tradelines report under your business's EIN and, for our packages, require standard company information including your EIN, business address and a contact for the account. If you have not yet formed or registered your business, our aged corporations service can help you start from an established entity.
How long does it take for business tradelines to post?
Posting depends on each furnisher's own reporting cycle to SBFE and Equifax Business, and timing varies by line and by package size, since larger combo packages involve more individual accounts reporting on their own schedules. We keep you updated as each line in your package reports.
Will business tradelines guarantee funding approval?
No. Lenders weigh a business credit file alongside revenue, time in business and other underwriting factors, and we do not promise an approval, a funding amount or a specific outcome tied to any package. What the packages do is build genuine trade references reporting into the networks lenders actually check.
What happens if a business tradeline in my package does not post?
Business tradeline placements are covered by our tradeline replacement policy, which we review with you in writing before you commit to a package. Reporting is ultimately controlled by each furnisher and by SBFE or Equifax Business, and the policy sets out what happens if a line does not perform as described.
Should I set up vendor accounts too, or are your tradelines enough?
We recommend both. Our packages place financial tradelines reporting to SBFE and Equifax Business, and pairing those with vendor net-30 accounts you open separately with suppliers that report to the business bureaus produces a broader file than either approach alone. We provide guidance on setting up vendor accounts once your package is placed.
Can a brand-new business use business tradelines?
Yes, and a new business with no existing trade references is often exactly who these packages are built for. What matters is having a properly registered EIN and business entity in place before the tradelines are placed, and we can also help with an aged corporation if you are starting from scratch and want an established entity age as well.
